Covid-19/Coronavirus

Friends of Anchor,

I wanted to take a moment today to let you know what is happening at Anchor as we move through this uncharted territory of dealing with the Corona Virus/Covid-19. So far, the Anchor team doesn’t have any members that are aware of being infected. However, in an abundance of caution we have several team members who are self-isolating for various reasons and have begun working from home. As things continue to develop, we may transition to most or all of our team members working from home, based on conditions in our sub-community and recommendations from local and national health authorities.

Today is a transition day here at Anchor, and we are working to get those who are working from home up and running so that they can continue to be productive members of our team. We have a strong commitment to the health and well-being of not just our staff, but their families, our clients and their families, and our community at large. As a society, and specifically our construction community, we are fortunate in that information exchange and production of design documents can happen at a distance from each other in an efficient manner despite the other challenges this situation presents. Attending meetings virtually and collaborating remotely is vastly more common and productive than it was even a few years ago.

This crisis seems to be quite different than the 2008 economic crisis, which was driven by a lack of liquidity in our financial markets. In this case, it appears that the Federal Government is increasing liquidity to lessen the effects of CV19 on the economy. While we are thankful that we have local, State, and Federal governments that are working on our behalf to mitigate this crisis both from the perspective of healthcare and the economy, each of us and our organizations have an obligation to each other and our community to do the best we can to keep our staff engaged and working, and funds moving accordingly through the system.

To that end, Anchor is still providing site observations for construction projects. It is critical that we assist others in moving their projects forward. We have plenty of bandwidth to complete work currently assigned, as well as additional projects as they begin. We are viewing this crisis as a challenge to be overcome and are working towards that end rather than waiting to see what will happen. We will continue to provide updates as things change with our organization, but please have confidence that Anchor is a team member committed to helping you and your organization succeed through this crisis.

Sincerely,

Eric Hanson, P.E., S.E.
